The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Royal Gorge; you can go for a hike on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 15. All year is a wonderful time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you adore the outdoors. One of the governing marks of the surroundings of Sierra Campground is Deadman Peak, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Yuba River - North   Fork. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Sierra Campground dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
