Sand Flat Campground, Northern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | Went there for the first time. It's definitely on the 'go back again' list. The road down is pretty rough. My explorer handled it with zero problem. I ran it in 2wd mode on the way back up just to make sure that a normal car could make it. The key to the road, known to the locals as 'Wolfboro road' is to take it very slow. Shift into low, and just let gravity lead you into camp. When I went, there were 2 'crossings' where you had to go into water. The water is not deep, just don't go plowing through and you'll be fine. On my way out, I was met with a Mitsubishi |
sedan making his way down. He was doing fine, although he was having to keep his speeds below 5mph Says Nate Moore
