Potato Patch Campground, Northern Sierra Nevada, California   We camp at Potato Patch campground annually with several other families. It is a very nice campground on a beautiful river. There is not a lot to do nearby though and it is a primitive campground with pit toilets and no showers. There are no hookups for RVs, but we tent camp anyway. We mostly play by the river (very cold water). Our attraction is the beauty and the people we camp with. We used to fish, but it is all catch and release. I can definitely recommend it but you have to be looking for a relaxing and beautiful setting and mostly doing not much of     anything. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Float down the rapids of Big Kimshew Creek in a kayak, and a tour to Plumas National Forest when you're here is never a bad idea. All year is a magnificent time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you adore the outdoors. The Lassen Trail is a pleasant hiking trail in the neighborhood of Potato Patch Campground, and close by you locate the Murphy Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Potato Patch Campground. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 50's, and winter   nights come with lows in the 30's to Potato Patch Campground. Forked Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth a visit, and you can go for a hike on the Growler Trail. The amount of precipitation that falls at Potato Patch Campground is close to the national average; January is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is July. A campground like this is too great to miss. During your tour to Potato Patch Campground you'll meet some people from Forest Ranch for sure, and going for a hike on the Childs Meadows Trail is always a magnificent adventure. And if that's not sufficient, there's a load more to do in the neighborhood of Potato Patch Campground. There are some great whitewater spots on Deer Creek; a journey to Bidwell-Sacramento River State Park is a great idea. This is a great campground. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Mill Creek.
