Placer Campground, Central Sierra Nevada, California   When was the last time you went camping? Placer Campground in California is the outdoors at its finest. There's lots of outdoors recreation available close at hand such as swimming, fishing, hiking, and whitewater paddling, so you won’t run out of things to do. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Placer Campground. During the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. Don't leave Placer Campground without first going for a hike along the Red Mountain Trail, and why not a little side tour to West Fork Chiquito Creek. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on San Joaquin River; a good site to pop by close by is Blackmans Bar. At Placer Campground cool stuff to do is plentiful; to be at this place is pleasant fun any time. Sierra National Forest is worth checking out if you're at Placer Campground, and Yosemite National Park is a great local destination. Sierra Summit is a very   popular ski area close at hand, and paddling on Willow Creek is so much fun. A lot of people stay at this campground for the purpose of being close to Sierra National Forest. Placer Campground gets a great deal of water; January is when you get the most rain here, and July is the month with the least moisture. Outdoors people generally go for this segment of California. And that's not all you can do here at Placer Campground. Lakes are great; Mammoth Pool Reservoir is a lake that's close to Placer Campground, and since you're here at Placer Campground it's a tremendous idea to pop by Forked Meadow.
