Coming to this campground is always a delightful idea. There are good sites to explore along the Summit Trail, and everyone close by loves skiing at Shirley Meadow. This campground is so wonderful. There's splendid hiking along the Bull Run Cattle Drive, and Dry Meadow Creek has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby. For the duration of the warm days of summer at Painted Rock Campground temperatures are ordinarily in the 90's with overnight lows in the 60's. Through the winter the highs are typically in the 50's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Painted Rock Campground drop into the 30's.
