Everybody loves Millerton Lake State Park, and you can hit the slopes at Sierra Summit nearby. There's more to do next to Oakie Bear Campground other than just hanging out such as hiking, and whitewater paddling, so getting bored is not something that is likely to happen. Dinkey Creek is a good whitewater spot near Oakie Bear Campground, and there is a delightful hiking trail close by called the Deep Creek Trail.
