The Rose Lion Trail is a good hiking trail in the neighborhood of Oak Flat Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Sespe Creek offers some nice whitewater. It is very dried up here at Oak Flat Campground commonly; the wettest month of the year is commonly February, that's the one that rains the most, |
and July is the month with the least moisture.

On a splendid day at Oak Flat Campground you can take a hike along the Cedar Lake Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Piru Creek. Summertime highs at Oak Flat Campground frequently tend to be in the 90's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Highs through the winter are generally in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Oak Flat Campground are in the 30's.

You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Sierra Madre. A trip to Channel Islands National Park is worthwhile;
a spree to Oak Flat revitalizes the soul.
No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a brilliant time here at Oak Flat Campground. Lots of people from Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura come to Oak Flat Campground, and there is a brilliant hiking trail close by called the Horn Canyon Trail.
There's such an incredible array of things to do at Oak Flat Campground including hiking, and whitewater paddling, so you won’t run out of things to do. This camp ground is to be found in the scenic Sierra Madre. All our national parks are great sites to take a look at, and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is no exception.
