Near North Fork Campground is a good 5-mile-from-beginning-to-end bit of whitewater on Stony Creek, a type III-IV, this is the Mill Creek to Diversion Dam section. For raft paddling this bit of Stony Creek is an enjoyable place. Naturally, raft paddling is enjoyable but perilous; check restrictions previous to going. 4,009 feet of variation in altitude and 7.8 miles of backpacking is what you get at Trout Creek Trail, a beautiful hiking trail in close proximity. Trout Creek Trail is
 
a demanding one and a half days of backpacking. A nice backcountry trail boasting a difference between top and bottom of 1,946 feet, and 4.
