Tahoe National Forest     is worth a visit if you're at McGuire Campground, and Rubicon River is a wonderful whitewater spot close by. Such a perfect pick of attractions and such a perfect variety of outdoors recreation will definitely have you coming back repeatedly. For the duration of the warm months here at McGuire Campground, high temperatures usually get into the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; overnight lows all through the winter for McGuire Campground tend to be in the 30's. This campground is so glorious. The scenery at L L Anderson Dam in the vicinity of McGuire Campground is beautiful, and do take a hike on the Tevis Cup Trail. This camp ground is one of the magnificent locations to camp here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. And if that's not sufficient there's heaps more amusing stuff   to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. A good site to go to in the neighborhood of McGuire Campground is Little Duncan Canyon, and a journey here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by Eldorado National Forest. Do go to French Meadows Reservoir close to McGuire Campground, it's a picturesque lake; McGuire Campground is right by the Rubicon Trail. This is a glorious campground. Little Duncan Creek is a wonderful site to stop by, and you can run the rapids of Yuba River - South Fork. Now, you may feel that's a heap but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. The Sailor Flat Trail offers hiking at its best, and pretty scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Royal Gorge. McGuire Campground gets a great deal of water; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; July is when it's the driest. As if McGuire Campground wasn't sufficient, you can also go fishing, swimming, hiking, and whitewater paddling, so you won’t get bored. Just can't get enough of McGuire Campground. There's tremendous hiking along the Hunters Trail, and in case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yuba River - South Fork.
