Independence Lake Campground, Northern Sierra Nevada, California Custom Search   Independence Lake is currently day use only. Independence Lake Campground is located in the Independence Lake Reserve area. A special use permit from The Nature Conservancy and the Truckee Donner Land Trust is required for the public camp sites. Daytime use at the lake is possible from sunrise to sunset. Activities you can do around here include fishing, hiking, picnicking, boating, kayaking as well as wildlife viewing. The lake is a public       lake, so don't let the TNC tell you what to do. I like the concept of a small, controlled village   properly planned in the area. I think it would also support itself economically and conservation would be a priority, because that is why people would want to visit the area. Says Forrestdog Independance Lake campground is currently closed.  The area is now a nature preserve and only open for day use. Says Jason I was at Independence Lake in July and discovered it is closed for the season 2009-2010.  NV Energy is working on a forest restoration       project and closed access to the lake for the public's safty. Says Lisa Independence Lake is private property. This lake is open to the public from May 31st- Sept 30 weather permitting. No access during the winter time. So many local attractions and all the outdoors recreation are magnificent motives to come.
