Highland Lakes Campground in Stanislaus National Forest opens from June to October. The campground has 2 loops across the road from each other. Activities you can do here are for example, trout fishing, boating, canoeing, picnicking, horseback riding, nature viewing, backpacking and hiking. The area is quite popular for gorgeous wild flowers during August and September. It is important to note for folks with RV's and trailers that the access road is quite steep and winding.
