So much cool stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada, not sufficient time. You should stop by Meeks Bay when you're here at General Creek Campground, and a day at Calawee Cove Beach is time well spent. This campground is so nice. Get yourself into a kayak and hit American River - South Fork, and there is a fine hiking trail close by called the Big Spring Trail. Camping in California is such a fun activity.
From a rainfall point of view General Creek Campground is a pretty common place; throughout January this area sees the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff truly is plentiful here in the Northern Sierra Nevada.
There's more to do in the neighborhood of General Creek Campground other than just hanging out such as whitewater paddling, fishing, hiking, and swimming, so running out of fun stuff to do won’t happen. Several people pick General Creek Campground to be right next door to Sugar Pine Point State Park. A campground like this is too nice to miss. If the weather is splendid here at General Creek Campground, you can go for a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 14; places like Sugar Pine Point State Park are pleasant to visit.
