Fowlers Campground, Southern Cascade Range, California
|
| | This campground is definitely one that I have thoroughly enjoyed staying. While it was not anything special or out of the ordinary, the staff was friendly and accomodating and the atmosphere was very family friendly. I would suggest Fowlers to any family wanting just a nice vacation together, but if you are a camping enthusiast and are used to having high standards for your camping experience, you may want to search around a bit more before you decide to stay at Fowlers as it may be a bit more mediocre than what you are used to camping at. Don't leave Fowlers Campground without visiting McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park; there are tremendous sites to look at along the Nelson Flat Trail. That right there is a heap of amusing stuff already but it goes on, the Southern Cascade Range has it all. Get your heart
| beating on the tremendous whitewater of McCloud River, and great hiking is available along the Coal Mine Trail. At this campground you will always have a good time. Going for a hike on the Angel Meadow Trail is always a great adventure, and you can go for a hike on the Rough and Ready Trail. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Southern Cascade Range. There are some great whitewater spots on McCloud River; you can hit the slopes at Mount Shasta nearby. For the period of the warm days of summer, highs | |
|
typically are in the 80's at Fowlers Campground with overnight lows in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Fowlers Campground. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can explore Lakin Dam, and Pine Tree Hollow
is close at hand, and is a good location. Now, you may believe that's heaps but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Fowlers Campground. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Pit River; Castle Crags State Park is worth
checking out. This campground is a delightful location to pop by. Don’t forget to pop by Bigelow Meadow while you're here at Fowlers Campground, and close by you find the Cone Point Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. Fowlers Campground is a quite wet place usually with a good deal of rain; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain while July is mostly the driest month.
