Do set aside some time for Succor Flat since you're here at Forbes Campground, and don't leave Forbes Campground without first going for a hike along the Green Valley Trail.   This is such a fun site for a campground. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - North Fork; the summit of Cottage Home Hill can be seen from Forbes Campground. Forbes Campground is exceptionally popular with the folks in Alta. Near Forbes Campground you come across wonderful sites like Snail Canyon, and there are plenty of people from Alta here. At Forbes Campground through the warm months highs are in the 90's, and the night is a little chillier of course, typically in the 60's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 50's; all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Forbes Campground temperatures drop to the 30's. Forbes Campground is one of the sites to camp here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Much rainfall falls at Forbes Campground; January is when you get the most rain here, and July is the month with the least moisture. The great local attractions and such a great variety of outdoors recreation will without doubt have you coming back persistently.
