This segment of Pit River is a mid difficulty sweep for paddling. Whitewater       rafting and kayaking can get perilous, so check the latest conditions before heading out. With its 5,083 foot height variation it's a beautiful wilderness trail; the Pacific Crest Trail - section 17 is 85.8 miles of pleasant backcountry   hiking. Around ten days of hard backcountry hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 17 is time well expended. Rough and Ready Trail is 1.9 miles in distance. This beautiful backpacking trail has a difference between top and bottom of 343 feet. Coal Mine Trail close by has an altitude variation of 3,603 feet.
