There is a brilliant   hiking trail near Cold Springs Campground called the Waterspout Trail, and in case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Trinity River - South Fork. On a great day at Cold Springs Campground you can take a hike along the Ben Arthur Trail, and a great site for whitewater paddling is Hayfork Creek. While you're here at Cold Springs Campground you can take a hike along the Ruth Hayfork Trail; a good spot is Road Gulch. Hiking along the Rough Gulch Trail is nice fun; some of the water close by flows, like North Fork Philpot Creek. California has loads of outdoors activities. If the weather is pretty, you obtain a splendid sight of Post Mountain from Cold Springs Campground, and Hayfork Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby.
