| | The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up. Says Mark C
This place, the Central Sierra Nevada, has so much outdoors exciting things. There are some great whitewater spots on Kings River - Middle Fork, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Kings River Trail. This campground is always a diversion. |
Lakes are splendid; North Lake is a lake that's near Big Trees Campground; Dutch Johns Meadow is a nice site. Quite a lot of entertaining things to do close to Big Trees Campground, and camping is such a fun thing to do, and this is a splendid site to do that. If you are in
| California during camping season, you must go camping. Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Kings River - Middle Fork; while you're here why not stop by Jawbone Canyon. As if Big Trees Campground wasn't enough, you can also go whitewater paddling, swimming, hiking, and fishing, so you won’t run out of things to do. At Big Trees Campground you don’t see much rain; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is June. Nevada. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada, not enough time. Visit Middle Fork Bishop Creek since you're here at Big Trees Campground; there is a good hiking trail close by called the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section. If you fancy the outdoors,
you'll have a thing about Big Trees Campground. There's whitewater on San Joaquin River - South Fork for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and of course, all our national parks are fine spots to pop by and Devils Postpile National Monument is no exception. The perfect local attractions

hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 50's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Big Trees Campground temperatures dip to the 20's.
