The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up. Says Mark C

 building every day; you've gotta get out every now and then; Big Trees Campground is a good local campground if you happen to be in California.
With such an incredible array of things to do in California you'll never get bored. The good variety of local attractions and all the outdoors recreation are great motives to come.
There is so much enjoyable stuff in the neighborhood of Big Trees Campground; it really is a good campground. Big Trees Campground
 
    is one of the places to camp here in the Central Sierra Nevada.

Kings River - Middle Fork has a grade V+ section of whitewater nearby. The 29-mile-in-length Dusy Branch to South Fork confluence portion is good to kayak. This
  section of Kings River - Middle Fork is well suited for whitewater boaters who have been whitewater paddling for a period of time. Don't go whitewater paddling in advance of first checking conditions; it's treacherous matter. Splendid trekking awaits you on the in the vicinity Kings River Trail; this backcountry trail has a height difference of 2,759 feet and is 14.
