Belknap Campground, Southern Sierra Nevada, California
|
| | (?) The Kern river is well over an hour's drive away. But Belknap is a beautiful campground, a rare opportunity to camp at the base of ancient redwood trees that tower 100's of feet above the campground. The main activity is hiking the Summit Trail (10 miles, round trip) to Quaking Aspen. This takes you through one of the larger of the last remaining Giant Sequoia Groves that make this area famous. The Tule River, which runs through the camp ground, | |

Belknap is open year-round, but winter brings storms and sub-freezing conditions. The road to the campground is not always plowed. Rooms are available at the Camp Nelson Lodge (www.campnelsonlodge.com) and at nearby Pierpoint Springs Resort (www.pierpointsprings.com). Cabin rentals available | |
