Stray Horse Campground, San Francisco Mountains, Arizona   Lots of folks choose this campground for the purpose of being right next door to Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Stray Horse Campground is a location that is pretty arid frequently; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month is May. So much fun stuff to do in the San Francisco Mountains, not sufficient time. This campground is a great place to take a look at. Sunrise Park is a great local ski area, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the KP Trail Seventy. The good variety of local attractions and the good variety of outdoors recreation are great reasons to come. Stray Horse Campground is a good camp ground to use as a base while enjoying the San Francisco Mountains. Get your heart pumping on the magnificent whitewater of Black River - East Fork, and if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Crabtree Trail Twenty-two. Among the things you can do next to Stray Horse Campground are whitewater paddling, and hiking, so you won’t get bored. Coming to this campground is always a great idea. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Blue River. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the San Francisco Mountains. Burnt Corral Draw is near Stray Horse Campground and is without doubt a pleasant site to go to, and you can run the rapids of San Francisco River.
