Spencer Canyon Campground, Arizona Custom Search   Uhmmm, are we talking about the same Spencer Canyon Campground? On Mt Lemmon? I guess it depends on where you are coming from, but I am a major chicken about bad roads, and I find this very EASY to get to. I come from Tucson. Go up the very well maintained, paved and mostly guardrailed Catalina Highway. There are signs that tell you it's coming up and while the road into the campground is dirt and a bit narrow, it is smooth and it loops so you don't ever       have to turn around, just follow the loop out... I've heard going up the back way is 4 wheel drive, but I've always just taken Catalina HWY. Says Leila Spencer Canyon is a four hour drive down a 4 wheel drive, nearly impassable   road to Oracle State Park and a three hour drive to Chiricahua National Monument  Neither are at all nearby. Says V. SELTZER We love camping even greater time is swimming. Spencer Canyon Campground including MT.Lemmon has no swimming at all. Rose Canyon Campground has a lake but only fishing is allowed. Dangle your feet and you might find a crawfish. Sycamore Reservoir is even lower in elevation is much hotter than all and a hike in the heat. Summer       Haven has a creek that you can dangle your feet in and 1000 higher than all combined and beautiful. Blackberries grow wild and what a sight to behold. If I may add as well we have been visiting Mt.Lemmon for many years and Spencer   is cooler than Rose in the summer at least by ten degrees. Says Julie (see picture) The natural attractiveness at this primitive campground is magnificent, and getting to a primitive campground such as Spencer Canyon Campground may be slightly difficult, but it's well worth it.
