There's a wonderful 7-mile-from-start-to-finish
 grade III-IV whitewater sweep on Salt River nearby, the Highway 60 to Mescal Rapid segment. This segment of Salt River is well suited for whitewater boaters who have been whitewater boating for a period of time but who are not yet prepared for the very treacherous rapids. Always check the latest conditions previous to going whitewater boating because whitewater boating is a treacherous activity. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not stop by Seneca Lake near Mule Hoof Campground, and hey, Cienega Creek is a perfect local stream. Man, is there a heap of amusing stuff to do in the Mogollon Rim Mountains. If you're here at Mule Hoof Campground, checking out Mule Hoof Bend is a must. Phillips
