This is a glorious campground. The Baldy Trail offers hiking at its best, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Salt River. During your journey to Apache Lake Campground you'll meet some people from Payson for sure, and there's great hiking along the Alder Trail.
Hiking along the Four Peaks Trail is glorious fun, and drift down the rapids of Tonto Creek in a kayak.
