Prairie River is a beautiful stream that is worth visiting. It's out of the question to run out of fun things to do near Council Grounds State Park; when you're here you're always having a wonderful time.
You can never get enough of the tremendous skiing at Granite Peak, and
if you're visiting from Merrill, you won't be the only one. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Council Grounds State Park. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 10's; after the sun is down through
the winter temperatures at Council Grounds State Park sink into the-10's.
Places like Rib Mountain State Park are perfect to stop by. Council Grounds State Park is a wonderful place to stretch your legs a bit, and Pine River is a fine whitewater spot nearby.
