Some activities here at Tygart Valley Campground are hiking, and whitewater paddling, so most likely you want to stick around for a while. Some people stay here in order to be near Monongahela National Forest. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this spot. While you're here at Tygart Valley Campground you can take a hike along the Chestnut Ridge Trail; whitewater paddling is tremendous on Tygart Valley River. You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Snowshoe, and Cass Railroad State Park is worth stopping at. West Virginia is a magnificent   outdoors state. All through the summer at Tygart Valley Campground highs are generally in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Tygart Valley Campground drop into the 10's. Going for a hike along the McGee Run Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and Monongahela National Forest is a good spot to go. The high level of rain makes Tygart Valley Campground a pretty wet spot; July is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is February. This is a good campground. Hiking along the Laurel Run Trail is great fun. On a glorious day at Tygart Valley Campground you can take a hike along the Stonecoal Hunter Access Trail, and don't forget to take a good little visit to Dry Run.
