Horseshoe Recreation Area - Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia   The brilliant choice of local attractions, and such a brilliant variety of outdoors recreation are pleasant causes to come. If only every spot had this much outdoors enjoyable stuff, what a great globe it would be. A visit to Horseshoe Recreation Area wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by Monongahela National Forest; there is a perfect hiking trail close by called the South Haddix Trail. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air, and Horseshoe Recreation Area in West Virginia is a good location to go. A tremendous place for whitewater     paddling right next door to Horseshoe Recreation Area is Tygart Valley River; going for a hike on the McGowan Mountain Trail is always a great adventure. Horseshoe Recreation Area sees pretty high levels of rain; the wettest month of the year is usually July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. With such a large number of things to do in West Virginia you'll never get bored. This campground has so many exciting things to offer. What would winter be without some skiing at Snowshoe. Go for a hike on the Yokum Hunter Access Trail, and swing by Goddin Run it's a wonderful place to stop at. Some of the things you can do here at Horseshoe Recreation Area are whitewater paddling, and hiking, so running out of exciting stuff to do won’t happen. Horseshoe Recreation Area is extremely well loved   by folks of Elkins. All the cheery folks and the nicely managed operations makes the spree here worthwhile. This campground is so splendid. Cheat River - Shavers Fork is a tremendous whitewater spot close to Horseshoe Recreation Area; on a good day you can take a hike along the Little Black Fork Trail. Get your pulse rate up on the great whitewater of Roaring Creek - Tygart Valley River Tributary, and there are wonderful sites to look at along the Long Trail. The wonderful people of Elkins like to hang out nearby, and a splendid location like Audra State Park is too pleasant to leave out. There are so many exciting things in the neighborhood of Horseshoe Recreation Area, and if you're trying to find a good location to go camping, this is a good selection. High temperatures at Horseshoe Recreation Area all through the warm months are in the 80's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Horseshoe Recreation Area plunge into the 10's.
