Snowshoe is a very popular ski area close by; don't leave Horseshoe Recreation Area without first going for a hike along the McGowan Mountain Trail. Horseshoe Recreation Area is a popular spot with folks from Elkins.

Roaring Creek - Tygart Valley River Tributary. Having a great time at Horseshoe Recreation Area is trouble-free. If you get bored of Horseshoe Recreation Area, you could also have a look at close by Mill Creek Reservoir, and don't leave without going to Audra State Park.
You can run the rapids of Cheat River - Shavers Fork close to Horseshoe Recreation Area; there's great hiking along the Long Trail. Throughout the warm days of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Horseshoe Recreation Area. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Horseshoe Recreation Area.
Horseshoe Recreation Area commonly gets much precipitation; most of the rain falls during July, and the driest month of the year is February. The people who take care of the campground and scores of exciting things to do are quite extraordinary.
