Horseshoe Recreation Area - Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia   At Horseshoe Recreation Area exciting stuff to do is abundant, and it is one of a lot of nice campgrounds in this vicinity. There is a tremendous hiking trail near Horseshoe Recreation Area called the McGowan Mountain Trail; Goddin Run is next to Horseshoe Recreation Area and is always a joy to stop at. Monongahela National Forest is a fine place to visit, and on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Little Black Fork Trail. Horseshoe Recreation Area sees pretty high levels of precipitation; most of the rain falls through July, and the driest     month of the year is February. Going for a hike on the Yokum Hunter Access Trail is always a fine adventure, and a day on the slopes of Snowshoe is just what you need. This campground is so fine. Paddling on Tygart Valley River is so much fun. Some of the things you can do here at Horseshoe Recreation Area are whitewater paddling, and hiking, so running out of exciting stuff to do won’t happen. Horseshoe Recreation Area is an old favorite with the folks from Elkins. The good local attractions and the close by outdoors recreation are sure to keep you coming back again and again. Whitewater paddling   is good on Roaring Creek - Tygart Valley River Tributary; close by you find the Long Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail. At Horseshoe Recreation Area throughout the summer highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Horseshoe Recreation Area are in the 10's. At this campground you will always have a fine time. Audra State Park is a great spot, and float down the rapids of Cheat River - Shavers Fork in a kayak. But wait, there's more to do in the vicinity of Horseshoe Recreation Area. Lots of folks from Elkins come to Horseshoe Recreation Area, and the South Haddix Trail is a fine hiking trail close by. With so many things to do in West Virginia you'll never get bored.
