Near Bear Heaven Recreation Area you come across the McGowan Mountain Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail; there are plenty of folks from Elkins here at Bear Heaven Recreation Area. Monongahela National Forest is both great and stunning, and it's near Bear Heaven Recreation
Area, and going for a hike on the Long Trail is always a great adventure.
This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. There are delightful places to explore along the Pheasant Mountain Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Cheat River - Shavers Fork.
Throughout the summer highs here at Bear Heaven Recreation Area get into the 80's while night lows are generally in the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's; after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Bear Heaven Recreation Area plunge
into the 10's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Bear Heaven Recreation Area a wet place; July is the month that gets the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
