There's magnificent hiking along the Jim Trail; there are some great whitewater spots on Cacapon River. Going for a hike on the Old Romney Grade is always a glorious adventure, and not far from Avalon Campground you'll hit upon Paul Roeder Farm Pond which is a pretty lake. here, and don't leave Avalon Campground without first going for a hike along the Hines Trail. There are brilliant places to look at along the Imes Trail, and there's whitewater on Town Creek for all you adrenaline people.

At Avalon Campground all through the long summer days highs are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. During the wintertime highs are typically in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Avalon Campground sink into the 20's.
