Whiskey Creek Beach, Olympic Mountains, Washington
|
| | Whiskey Creek Beach Resort is a great place, and the cabins are reasonable and very rustic (wood for heat only, and kerosene lanterns).? Though a few cabins have slightly more amenities the rustic ones are more favorites.? Nearby, there's also the Makah Trail (less than a mile hike) at Cape Flattery/Neah Bay going to out to the beautiful overlook over the grottos and the ocean vistas out to Tatoosh Island.? Check out the Makah Museum while you're there too.? Really well done.? Then there's Lake Ozette and the trail to Sand Pt./Cape Alava.? Hurricaine |
|
Ridge is a short distance away near Port Angeles.? Have never heard of the ski lodge, there is a visitor center at Hurricaine Ridge though, but I'm not a skier.? Also, there's a nearby (right up the road from Whiskey Creek, the office can tell you more) blueberry U-Pick in mid-August
| to late August that has humongous perfect blueberries.? And you have to check out the Joyce General Store in Joyce, WA.? Has everything from a penny up.? If you're staying at Whiskey Creek, you definitely want to make a stop there (great place for penny candy and little toys for the younger set - fun just to browse.? Enjoy.? This part of the peninsula really has a lot going for it.? From LaPush to PA - it's all very close. Says Gail
The best place on earth. Amazing. Says Lynsey

flows through this neighborhood. High temperatures at Whiskey Creek Beach during the summer months are in the 70's while night lows are mostly in the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's; overnight lows in the 30's for Whiskey Creek Beach. This campground
is always a joy. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Soleduck River - North Fork, and going for a hike along the Pyramid Mountain Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Visiting Olympic National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet,
and there is a good hiking trail close by called the Boulder Lake Trail. This is such a fun place for a campground. An afternoon playing golf at Salt Creek RV Park Golf Course is always a bliss, and if you're here you can take a hike along the North Fork Soleduck River Trail.
And that's not everything there is to do here in the Olympic Mountains. What would winter be without some skiing at Hurricane Ridge Ski Lodge; the Happy Lake Ridge Trail is a great hiking trail nearby. This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. Whitewater paddling
is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Soleduck River, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Aurora Trail. So much entertaining stuff in the Olympic Mountains, just mind-boggling. If you come at the right time of year, Lyre River offers some great
whitewater, and if you're dropping by from Port Angeles, you won't be the only one. All the water falling down from the sky makes Whiskey Creek Beach a wet site; the wettest month of the year is frequently November, that's the one that rains the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

I just love Whiskey Creek Beach. I have been going here for years and now I take my mother every year for 5 days and she loves it also. My daughter and grandchildren have been here and they love it also. It is a great rustic family place. We relax listening to the ebbing tides at night, collect rocks and shells, roast marshmallows for smores and just have fun. Last time we fount a great fishing hole and handicap assessable and it had fire rings bathrooms tables camping sites right down the road. From WCB. You need to try this place if you REALLY want to relax. - says: Martha
