Carrollwood Campground, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia

My family and I stopped at Carrollwood Campground for a weekend while traveling back home after spending the winter in FL. The owners were extremely friendly - John and Jenny. They even walked us to our site and helped us with the hook-ups. The fishing lakes are filled with many big fish. While we were there, a fisherman caught a catfish that weighed in at 32 lbs! The atmosphere is very peaceful and the grounds are kept neat. It's truly a beautiful place to visit!
Thanks John and Jenny for a wonderful trip! Says Frank Jefferson

There is a delightful
hiking trail near Carrollwood Campground called the Bournes Branch Trail, and of course Pine Branch flows through this vicinity. During the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Carrollwood Campground, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime
comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Carrollwood Campground. This campground is a great spot to have a look at. A splendid location for whitewater paddling near Carrollwood Campground is New River; you can go for a hike on the Mountain Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Here at Carrollwood Campground you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Woodlawn, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Yellow Branch Trail.
Having a perfect time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is easy. Places like

Claytor Lake State Park are fine to have a look at, and going for a hike on the Miles Gap Trail is always a fine adventure. Coming to this campground is always a great idea. Stone Mountain State Park is a great site to stretch your legs a bit. But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Little Reed Island Creek, and Carrollwood Campground is not the only place nearby, Kennedys Lake is a nearby lake.
From a rainfall point of view Carrollwood Campground is a reasonably typical spot; most of the rain falls through July while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Chestnut Creek is a glorious whitewater spot close to Carrollwood Campground, and close by you stumble on the Cliff Branch Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail.
