| | The Buckhorne is a campground near the entrance to Douthat State Park on Route 629 off exit 27 of I-64. The Buckhorne has two camping cabins and a camping trailer for daily, weekly, or monthly rentals.
Also, the campground has five full hook-up RV sites (water/sewer/electric) for $26 per night, $156 per week, or $468 per month. Additionally, there are 10 water and electric RV sites for $21 per night, $126 per week, and $378 per month. Finally, there are nine tent sites (primitive that have a fire ring, picnic table, and trash container per site for |
$19 per night, $114 per week, and $342 per month.
The Buckhorne has hot showers at its bathhouse, and its store included The Amber Suzanne Salon, an ice cream parlor, and Bambi's Country Kitchen with seating for 10. High speed internet service is available at the campsites
| without charge. Campers from approximately 80% of the states and approximately six foreign countries are guests at the Buckhorne each year. Campers from 19 states and one foreign country have already stayed at the Buckhorne in 2009 as we approach the official kick-off of the camping season this Memorial Day weekend.
The Buckhorne has a Virginia designated trout stream that flows through the property, and campers can fish there at no extra cost while camping. The state stocks the creek with rainbow trout and brook trout. For photos and other information | |

McGraw Hollow is near Buckhorn Store And Campground and is a glorious site; you'll possibly meet some folks from Clifton Forge here. This campground is a good place to check out. There's whitewater on Jackson River for
all you adrenaline kick people; on a fine day you can take a hike along the Beards Gap Trail. The high level of rainfall makes Buckhorn Store And Campground a pretty wet place; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month is December. A visit to Jefferson National
Forest revives the spirit, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Stony Run Trail. So many fun things to do here at Buckhorn Store And Campground, too great to be true. Very lovely scenery and splendid skiing is what you get at The Homestead, and there
is a glorious hiking trail nearby called the Wilson Creek Trail. Summertime highs at Buckhorn Store And Campground commonly tend to be in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in
the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Buckhorn Store And Campground dip into the 10's. Brushy Knob is clearly visible from Buckhorn Store And Campground. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Wilson Creek, and Douthat State Park is a great place.
Looking for some flowing water? Try Stony Run, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Brushy Hollow Trail. Loads of fun is at this campground. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Cowpasture River; the Tobacco House Ridge Trail is a magnificent hiking trail nearby.
