Nearby you come upon the Utopia to FM 187 portion, a type II segment of whitewater. It's a magnificent 8-mile-in-length segment on Sabinal. This segment of Sabinal is an uncomplicated segment for whitewater boating. Don't go whitewater boating before first checking the situation; it's hazardous stuff. Garner State Park is worth going to if you're at       Sabinal Canyon Campland, and going for a hike on the Garner State Park Trail is always a great adventure. You get a great view of Taylor Mountain from Sabinal Canyon Campland, and do take a look at Pelaez Lake Dam since you're here.   Scores of fun is at this campground. The smiling people of Vanderpool like to hang out close by; why not a little side visit to Mill Creek. Everybody loves Lost Maples State Natural Area, and nearby you hit upon the Lost Maples State Natural Area Trails which is a great hiking trail.
