There's a great 12-mile-in-length category II-III(IV) whitewater bit on Dry Frio River nearby, the US 83 to FM 2690 segment. This segment of Dry Frio River is suggested for whitewater paddlers of medium practice. You have to check the situation prior to departure; whitewater rafting and kayaking can get perilous. Lost Maples       State Natural Area is a delightful location to stretch your legs a bit, and The Shut-In is a peak you can catch a sight of from J and L River Camp. When you're here at J and L River Camp it's always fun to stop at Garner State Park,   and lots of folks from Concan come here. At this campground you will always have a good time. If you yearn for a little side tour, try Baylock Hollow; Memorial Golf Course is a good golf course nearby.
