Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area is a tremendous local destination here at Wesleyan Campground; there's perfect hiking along  
the Lake View Trail. Take a hike on the Ladder Trail, and Crooked Creek is next to Wesleyan Campground and is always a delight to explore.
