Windmill Campground, South Dakota Custom Search   One of the best kept secrets in RV camping is at the Windmill campground. My wife and I found a quiet, restful place to get off the hiway there. The tree shaded park was far away enough from the hiway that you were not kept awake all night by the noise. It was clean and well kept. Everything we needed was there to make our stay enjoyable. Also it was a real joy to find such wonderful Christian folks in charge there. We only regret that we had to leave so soon       to finish our trip. Interstate noise seemed distant, no railroads or airports, amenities were within a 1/2   mile, and we enjoyed visiting the world renowned Shrine to Music, on the University of SD, in Vermillion. We also enjoyed biking to Spirit Mound, where Lewis and Clark went to survey the surrounding lands. I am a couple of friends stayed a few summers ago, and this just brings back fond memories. Shadey sites, and places to tent, along with seemingly endless supply of hot water, was just what the doctor ordered on that trip. No doubt, I'd go back. Says Jay       At the close by supermarket you may hit upon anything you must have; there are RV hookups for your RV here at Windmill Campground. As if Windmill Campground wasn't enough, you can also go whitewater paddling, and playing golf, so   getting bored is not something that is likely to happen. The kids will not get bored here, there are kid's endeavors. Take the turtle, you are allowed to take pet animals; needless to say there are showers at this campground. This campground has a good swimming pool where you can go for a great dip. There is a washing machine room for you to utilize, and there are tent sites here where you can pitch a tent.   AMENITIES Tent camping is available RV hookups are available Pets are allowed - Owners clean up and keep pets on leash, per city ordinance.  No pets left unattended.  Campfires are allowed - With portable above ground burn barrels.  Grocery store nearby - Full service store 6 blocks away.  Pool No Game Room Restaurant(s) nearby - Several ma and pa restaurants, and franchise joints. Nearby attractions - Shrine to Music Museum, 3rd Largest Music repository in the world.  Lewis and Clark trail, Lewis and Clark Dam, and Spirit Mound.  Sioux River, Vermillion, and Missouri River.  Hiking trails nearby.  9-hole golf course across the street. Midway  between Sioux Falls and Sioux City for area events.  Fishing - On nearby streams, lakes and river, with state license. Boating - On nearby streams, lakes and river. Activities for kids - Park across the street, with 4th of July festivities and city toy give away.  Playground No Cabins - But detached PU camper for rent, $50. Showers - And hot No Store - Limited store.
