Whitetail - Black Hills National Forest, Black Hills, South Dakota   If you come at the right time of year, Spearfish Creek offers some splendid whitewater, and you'll meet a lot of people from Deadwood here. Whitetail is a location that is pretty dried out mostly; June is the month that gets the most rain; the driest of the months is January. The great local attractions and the great variety of outdoors recreation will positively have you coming back again and again. High temperatures at Whitetail all through the long summer days are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 50's. The cold days of the     winter come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Whitetail. The surroundings of this campground have so much stuff to offer. A perfect place like Custer State Park close to Whitetail is too good to leave out; don't leave Whitetail without first going for a hike along the Rapid Creek Trail. There is so much entertaining stuff to do next to Whitetail, and camping is such an enjoyable thing to do, and this is a nice site to do that. Ok, it's time for camping, so what do you say? A trip to Whitetail wouldn’t be complete without a spree to close by Bear Butte State Park; do set aside some time for Windy Flats while you're here at Whitetail. Mount Rushmore National Memorial is quite next to Whitetail. Be careful coming to the Black Hills, you might not ever wanna go home again. Visiting Jewel Cave National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet; delightful skiing awaits you at Terry Peak. Among the things you can do near Whitetail are whitewater paddling, playing golf, and hiking, so you won’t run out of things to do. The welcoming surroundings and the great facilities beat anything. Good hiking is available along the Silver Arrow Trail, and a round of golf at nearby Tomahawk Country Club is a good way to kill some time.
