Go for a hike on the Iron Creek Trail; nearby you stumble on the Rim Rock Trail which is a nice hiking trail. It's just not possible to run out of cool stuff to do close to Mountain View Campground; it is a pleasant escape from the routine. All year is a glorious time in the Black Hills if you go for the outdoors. A tremendous place in the vicinity of Mountain View Campground is Fish Hatchery Gulch, and get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Spearfish Creek.
