Elkview Campground, South Dakota   The owner's and employees at Elkview are ALL some of the nicest people I have ever met! We stayed for 8 days during the Sturgis Rally and thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. We actually had as much fun at the campground as we did in Sturgis and riding the beautiful Black Hills. The homecooked meals available during the rally are fantstic! This is a Low Frills campground but they have all the comforts: Full hookups, 50amp Electric, and WiFi. I understand that the amenities are limited during other parts of the camping season, so call ahead for details.      Once again, I cannot say enough good things about the owners and employees. We felt like we sincerely met several new friends that we will stay in touch with for years to come! We already put in our reservation request for next year!!! Says Tony K. Very delightful scenery and great skiing is what you get at Terry Peak; you can go for a hike on the Flume Trail. You without doubt have to check out Bear Butte State Park while you're here at Elkview Campground; the fine people of Piedmont like to hang out nearby. For the period of the long summer days at Elkview Campground temperatures are commonly in the 80's while overnight lows are commonly in the 50's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Elkview Campground dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. This campground is always   a joy. Don't miss out on a tour to Mount Rushmore National Memorial if you're here at Elkview Campground, and Custer State Park is both good and stunning. So many entertaining things to do at Elkview Campground, so little time. Near Elkview Campground you come across the Silver Arrow Trail which is a good hiking trail; Jewel Cave National Monument is a perfect local destination. Going for a hike on the Rapid Creek Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and Forbes Gulch is also a great location to discover. From a precipitation point of view Elkview Campground is a pretty normal location; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
