Don't go whitewater boating ahead of first checking restrictions; it's dangerous stuff. Buck Run is one of the streams nearby that might be worth checking out. Blue Knob State Park is both delightful and gorgeous,   and it's close to Pine Oaks Camp Ground, and hey, Gotta ski right? The Springs at Laurel Mountain is a nice place to do that. This campground is always a delight. If you are looking for a bowling alley nearby, Zips Classic Lanes is in close proximity to Pine Oaks Camp Ground. Have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Old '56' Trail.
