Almost Heaven Campground, Pennsylvania
|
| | My family camped at almost heaven in summer 2008. We have two (now 3!) small children and the owner was so kind, she suggested a site out of the way but also near restrooms. We didn't make our reservations until that day and the woman there did her best to accomodate our family. It is beautiful there in the mornings and nice at night too. The creek is amazing and the hiking trails would satisfy any hiker. THanks for a fantastic weekend! Says Bobbi
We have been going to Amost Heaven Campground before it was Almost Heaven Campground. (Higley Park) |

It is a truly unique place to visit. This is true camping. You have to be able to look past the bathrooms. If you rent a cabin, it is a true rough cabin. You have to be a true camper. All princes and princesses should steer clear. You shouldn't be camping anyway! The location is
| unsurpassed. In the early morning hours, the mist rises to unveil the fact that you are encircled by mountains. You sit in a valley. Take a walk to the swimming hole. Go down to the creek and sit in the natural'jacuzzi'. Wear sneakers. The river rocks are slippery, but when you lie down, they are so relaxing. The owner is the nicest lady. She will help you any way she can. This is one of my favorite places on earth!! Says joanne
This campground is a real gem in the rough. We have been camping here annually for over 18 years. We enjoy the raw nature | |

of it--Loyalsock Creek is great for fishing and of course swimming and rock jumping into the creek. The campground owner is a great gal, and always has ice cream in stock at the camp store. Thenights are great, too, when you have your own personal planetarium above. The are no
lights from any cities--as you are too far to see them, and when the clouds are sparce, the sky just lights up. The only thing that is lacking are the bathrooms, but if you don't mind a few bugs and wearing watershoes in the shower--try it!!! You'll come back year after year!
