The variation between top and bottom is   1,787 feet for a pretty 4.8-mile-long great outdoors hiking trail around here; we are of course chatting about the Fanton Plaza Trail. You have to plan five hours to backcountry hike the Fanton Plaza Trail. With its 638 foot height variation it's a scenic wilderness trail; the Old Baldy Trail is 11 miles of tremendous trekking.
