The 9-mile-in-length Fairfax to 177th St. East section is a category V section of whitewater on Carbon River. Don't go whitewater       rafting or kayaking on this run of Carbon River unless you think your whitewater rafting or kayaking abilities are very nice. If you are going whitewater rafting or kayaking, you have to always check current conditions. 1,081 feet   of height variation and 3 miles of backcountry backpacking is what you get at Paul Peak Trail, a wonderful hiking and backpacking trail around here. The Paul Peak Trail is an average difficulty hiking and backpacking trail; it calls for something like three hours to backcountry walk.
