New River State Park is a striking place any time of year, and lakes are such peaceful locations, why not pop by A S U Lake. Summer at Appalachian Campground comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Appalachian Campground temperatures fall to the 10's.
Appalachian Campground gets lots
    of water; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while December is usually the driest month. You definitely have to love the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can run the rapids of Boone Fork in close proximity to Appalachian Campground; Howard Knob is picturesque
and can be seen from here. Outdoors folks generally have a thing about this segment of North Carolina.
The pleasant reception and all the enjoyable things to do are in themselves reason enough to come here. Watauga River is a great whitewater spot in close proximity to Appalachian Campground; you could always discover Hodges Gap. This campground is a pleasant place to pop by. You'll meet a lot of people from Boone here. Outdoors recreation is abundant, some of the cool stuff you can do is hiking, swimming, whitewater paddling, fishing, and playing golf, so getting bored is not something that is likely to happen.
