Places like El Vado Lake State Park are nice to visit, and Heron Lake State Park is a good place to stretch your legs a bit. All through the summertime months here at Stone House Lodge, high temperatures usually reach the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Stone House Lodge temperatures plunge to the 0's.

| Lodge are whitewater paddling, and hiking, so it's out of the question to get bored. Don't leave Stone House Lodge without first going for a hike along the Hart Trail, and hey, Rio Brazos is a glorious local stream. You've been indoors for too long, you need to get out; Stone House Lodge, New Mexico is a glorious site for getting out.

With such an incredible array of things to do in New Mexico you'll never get bored. Not much rain falls here at Stone House Lodge; August is the month that gets the most rain; May is when it's the driest. Several folks stay here when they come to explore Heron Lake State Park.
