The people who take care of the campground and the good facilities attract people from all over. Go for a hike on the Osha Trail, and Oliver Lee Memorial State Park is worth stopping at.
Black Bear Group Area is incredibly popular with the folks from Alamogordo. Summertime highs at Black Bear Group Area typically tend to be in the 90's. Summer night lows drop down to the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 50's; overnight lows in the 20's for Black Bear Group Area.

Black Bear Group Area gets very little rain; the month with most of the rain is August; April is the month with the least moisture. There's some interesting stuff to catch a sight of at Alamagordo Water Supply Reservoir Dam near Black Bear Group Area; you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Ski Apache while you're here.
