Heart Of The Forest Campground, Michigan   Heart of the Forest RV Park is a quiet modern park located in the heart of the Manistee National Forest.  Leave the hustle and bustle. Sit around your campfire, roast marshmellows and get some brain food.  We offer shaded sites with fire rings and picnic tables. We are approx. 4 miles from biking, hiking or skiing at Big ''M'' cross country recreation area, Udell Hills and the North Country Trail.  A staging area for the Wellston snowmobile trail system is located right across the street.  Our trail system connects to Irons, Benzie and the Cadillac trail     systems.  Heart of the Forest RV Park can accomodate most big rigs with multiple slide-outs and tow vehicles with our new pull-thru full hook-up sites.  World class fishing on the back waters of Tippy dam, the Manistee and Pine rivers, is just a short 3 mile drive from the park.  Fishermen come from all over the US to fish the fall salmon run here in Wellston.  Liveries are nearby for canoeing and kayaking on the Manistee and Pine rivers.  Spring is morel mushroom season and Mesick, MI (morel capital) is about 17 miles from our park.  Golf at Fawn Crest, located in back of the campground, a short drive right around the corner.  Other courses are located in Manistee and  Cadillac. You'll meet a lot of folks from Wellston here, and good hiking is available along the Ward Hills Snowmobile Trail. Enjoy a round of golf at Fawn Crest Golf Course not far from Heart Of The Forest Campground; Heart Of The Forest Campground is right by the North Country National Scenic Trail. Heart Of The Forest Campground gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; all through the month of September you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. This is such a pretty campground. A visit to Interlochen State Park when you're here at Heart Of The Forest Campground is a great idea, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Heart Of The Forest Campground; Lincoln Mills Snowmobile Trail is a great local trail. The skiing at Crystal Mountain is great; do take a hike on the Caberfae Way Snowmobile Trail. This campground is always a pleasure. Summertime highs at Heart Of The Forest Campground generally tend to be in the 70's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are usually in the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter at Heart Of The Forest Campground temperatures fall to the 10's. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff near Heart Of The Forest Campground. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Pine River, and the McKenzie Ski Trail offers hiking at its best. AMENITIES Tent camping is available RV hookups are available - electric only or Full hook-ups with water/electric (20/30/50 amp) and sewer. 65 sites total with about 45 available.
