Barton Cove Campground, Massachusetts
|
| | I have been going there for over 20 years. It is a great place to take a family and if you are lucky, you will get to see the bald eagles (I actually got to see their first flight). Says Wickedhiker
Lovely campground with huge, clean wooded tent sites. Some sites overlook the Connecticut River, and a few offer access to a swimming or fishing beach. There are some high cliffs on the river side of the campground, partly blocked with post and rail | |
fencing. Small children may not respect the fences, so that should be considered when families with kids choose their site. Overall very enjoyable, and I look forward to returning soon. Says Carol

to spend some time. The Ashuelot to Hinsdale section has a mileage of 3.5 miles; you find this section of whitewater on Ashuelot River. It's a grade II-IV section. This section of Ashuelot River is suited for paddlers who have been whitewater boating for some time but who are not yet set for the truly risky rapids. Don't go whitewater boating ahead of first checking circumstances; it's risky stuff.
