Try Meadow Brook; if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Great Long Pond Trail. This section of Maine is always a diversion to pop by during camping season. The yearly rainfall here at The Gatherings Family Campground is about average; the   wettest month of the year is generally November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. The Gatherings Family Campground is near Lamoine State Park which is a charming place, and if you're looking for a beach close by we recommend Hales Beach. The friendly personnel and the massive amount of fun stuff to do have folks coming here. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Blue Hill Falls; if time allows, Maine Acadian Culture is a national park worth going to. A tour to close by Patten Bay is very relaxing, and you can have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Eagle Lake Trail. There's more to do in the neighborhood of The Gatherings Family Campground other than just hanging out such as whitewater paddling, hiking, playing golf, fishing, and swimming, so running out of amusing things to do won’t happen. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If you come at the right time of year, Branch Lake Stream offers some tremendous whitewater, and do take a hike on the Blue Hill Trail. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because White Birches Motel & Golf Course is in close proximity, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on Union River.
