No need to travel far to go to out of the ordinary stuff like Parks Pond Bluff, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Stillwater River. There are plenty of folks from Eddington here at Parks Pond Campground; if you're looking for a fine journey, Acadia National Park is reasonably near.
