Spencer Stream has a wonderful   whitewater paddling spot close by; skiing at Sugarloaf USA is one of those things you just have to do. Penobscot River - South Branch is a glorious whitewater spot in the vicinity of Moose River Campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Moose River Campground; Sally Mountain Trail is a brilliant local trail.
