| | Do not visit under any circumstances. The owners tried to extort a father of 10 kids as I watched. They are rude and disrespectful, which would be understandable if this were a scenic or convenient site. The only thing that it's near to is the interstate, which means that you'll hear trucks rumbling by all night. The site itself is mostly rocks with very little grass, but they'll try to rip you off in every way possible. In June 2011 I met up with a father of 10 in Chattanooga who had already prepaid for the KOA Kampground for weekend and stayed for one night. The next day, the family decided to have dinner at the campsite. An older man trolled up in his golfcart and told us that the | |
charge for visitors was $5 per car, even if we were only staying for a few minutes to chat with the family. We were happy to pay the ridiculous charge, but he then said that we couldn't even visit because the site would have more
| | people than the artificial limit they impose, which is six. At the main office, two employees, an older man and a woman, told the father that he could only have six people to a site, which is unfortunate because he has 10 children. He asked what he should do, and they said it wasn't their problem. He asked for his money back, but they told him there were no refunds. ''I'll tell you what we can do,'' the owner said with a glimmer in his eye. ''We could rent you another site.'' Bear in mind that the father only had one RV and had no need for another site. He had already paid a great deal of money for the site he was already renting. The young children used up no additional resources and only | |

spent time onsite at night. But rules are rules, they said and he couldn't stay and had no intention of giving his money back so he could go to another campground instead. His only option was to pay more money for their little extortion scheme.
We walked back to the site to discuss it, but only seconds later he served us with a typed eviction notice that the entire family of 12 had to pack up and leave within five minutes or he would call the police. I've lived in America
for 28 years, and in all that time I've never met anyone as rude, heartless or calculating as the gang that runs this place. It's an ugly site with even uglier people running the place, who only care about how much they can scam out
of you. Not only should you avoid this place at all costs, but you should warn any friends traveling through the area to stay away. Says Ellis (Sat, 4 Jun 2011)
